Bladder & Bowel Catheter Service Information for Mobile Patients
The Bladder & Bowel Service provides planned catheter care and management for mobile patients by appointment only.
What to expect from the service:
- Catheter appointments are provided in clinic settings for mobile patients.
- The service operates Monday to Friday, 9:00am to 5:00pm.
- The last catheter appointment of the day is at 4:00pm.
- Patients are required to arrange and manage their own repeat prescriptions for catheters, drainage bags, and associated catheter supplies through their GP practice.
- Patients should ensure they request prescriptions in sufficient time to avoid running out of supplies.
Important Information
- We are unable to accommodate drop-in appointments.
- If a catheter becomes blocked and requires urgent attention, patients should contact the Single Point of Access (SPA) – available seven days a week, 8.00am – 8.00pm, tel. 0151 514 2222. During Bladder and Bowel Service working hours, calls should be directed to 0151 514 2222 (select option 1). Outside of these hours, support will be provided by the Community Nursing Service.
- Community Bladder Service (CBS) Out of Hours Service to arrange an appropriate clinic appointment
- Patients requiring routine catheter care should contact the Bladder & Bowel Service during normal working hours to arrange an appointment.
We kindly ask patients to plan ahead where possible and ensure they have an adequate supply of catheter equipment available at home.
