Monday 2 September marks the official launch of Wirral’s NHS Risk and Resilience Service for young people called Let’s Talk.
Run by Wirral Community Health and Care NHS Foundation Trust, Let’s Talk aims to help children and young people develop knowledge, skills, and confidence to make informed decisions about their health and wellbeing.
The Let’s Talk team will work with young people focusing on:
- Relationships and sex education
- Drugs and alcohol
- Understanding anger
- Healthy weight
- Empowering informed choices
- Awareness of risk-taking behaviours.
The service name Let’s Talk was developed through engagement with local young people who also gave insight into:
- their perceptions of risk and resilience
- where they would access help and support
- ideas to raise awareness of the new service.
Over the coming months the Let’s Talk team will continue to work closely with young people to develop a mobile friendly online hub to enable people to access support with the click of a button, 7 days a week.
Lindsey Costello, Interim Service Director, said: “The Let’s Talk team is committed to supporting young people and is passionate to making a difference to their lives. Young people can access free, confidential, and non-judgemental support and advice in schools, youth settings, and community organisations.
Working closely with partners across Wirral eg Zillo, SENDLO, Family Toolbox and Branch we will ensure young people access the right support at the right time.”
