Missed appointments with our clinical teams cost our Trust approximately £80 each, so we ask patients to let us know as soon as possible if they cannot attend a booked appointment. This way we can offer our time to somebody else, and rearrange your care for a date and time that is more convenient.
Wasted appointments have an enormous impact on our healthcare system, increasing cost and adding to waiting times. Unfortunately, we experience a lot of missed appointments in our Trust and we want to work with our patients and service users to improve this inefficiency.
We understand that plans can often change; childcare, work commitments, medical emergencies and unforeseen circumstances can all mean you may have to cancel your booked appointment, and we are happy to help you rearrange a date and time.
There are many ways you can let us know in advance if you need to cancel your appointment
There will be a number to call at the top of your appointment letter if you wish to cancel your appointment or no longer need it. Or you may have received a reminder text message from us a few days before with a contact number. If you have misplaced your letter please call our head office on 0151 514 2888 between 9 – 5pm and ask to speak to the relevant service.
Please call us as soon as you can to notify us, this helps us fill the appointment slot and provide care to somebody else, helping to reduce waiting times.
What happens if I don’t attend my appointment?
If you do not attend your appointment and have not told us, your care may be returned to your GP, or you may wait longer to be seen when you rebook.
