Following months of development and engagement with staff and stakeholders, we are proud to publish our first joint strategy that brings together Wirral University Teaching Hospital NHS Foundation Trust (WUTH) and Wirral Community Health and Care NHS Foundation Trust (WCHC). Its publication represents an important step forward in our journey towards integration and the delivery of a high‑quality, sustainable health and care system for Wirral
This Joint Strategy builds on the expertise and experience of both Trusts, setting a clear direction to deliver care that is better connected, more accessible, and focused on what matters most to the people we serve. By working more closely together across hospital and community services, as well as with local partners, we can provide more seamless care, support people to stay well, treat them closer to home where possible, and ensure specialist care is there when it’s needed most.
At the heart of this strategy is our vision, that together we will create healthier lives and stronger communities. Achieving this will rely on all of us across our health system.
Our supporting strategies
The supporting strategies shown below remain in place for WCHC whilst we develop new joint enabling strategies throughout 2026/27. The new enabling strategies will describe the key areas we must strengthen and invest in to make our strategic priorities achievable. (The new enabling strategies will be published here).
