We are delighted to announce the appointment of Haris Sultan as a joint Non-Executive Director for Wirral Community Health and Care NHS Foundation Trust (WCHC) and Wirral University Teaching Hospital NHS Foundation Trust (WUTH).
Haris brings valuable insight and experience to the role having previously worked with Leeds Community Healthcare NHS Trust, where he founded the Youth Board, and serving on the West Yorkshire Integrated Care Board following his appointment as the NExT Director (Associate Non-Executive Director) for Citizens and Future Generations.
Nationally, Haris has led initiatives with NHS England on health inequalities and has helped shape policy through his two-year tenure on NHS England’s Children and Young People’s Programme Board. Alongside his professional contributions, Haris is a medical student at the University of Liverpool and is undertaking an MBA at UCL’s Global Business School for Health.
Haris said: “It’s a real honour to be appointed as a joint Non-Executive Director. As someone who started their journey in the NHS through community engagement, it means so much to now be in a position to help shape the future of care across the Wirral.
“I look forward to working with colleagues across both Trusts at an exciting and transformational time, to champion inclusion, improvement and innovation, helping to create a more equitable and compassionate health and care system for all.”
Joint Trust Chair, Sir David Henshaw said: “We are absolutely delighted to welcome Haris to our Boards as a joint Non-Executive Director. His appointment brings a fresh perspective, a deep commitment to equity, and a passion for improving health outcomes for current and future generations.
“Haris’ experience across local and national NHS roles, combined with his insight as a medical student and advocate for young people and underrepresented communities, will be a tremendous asset to both our organisations.”
Haris represents a new generation of leadership, and we warmly welcome him to the Boards and look forward to the energy, insight, and compassion he will bring to our organisations.
Haris joins Meredydd David and Steve Igoe who are currently Non-Executive Directors at WCHC and WUTH respectively and who have been appointed to Joint Non-Executive Director roles working across both organisations.
These joint appointments are a positive and significant step forward in our Better Together journey and support us in our governance arrangements ensuring we realise the benefits of integration for both patients and staff.
