You have received dental treatment with the assistance of conscious sedation.
We do not anticipate any post-operative problems from using these techniques. If any problems occur between 9.00am and 4.30pm, please contact the dental office for advice on 0151 604 7295.
You have received conscious sedation to help you accept dental treatment. This was given to make you more relaxed but often makes you feel tired or drowsy. You must follow these instructions, even if you feel normal.
For the next 24 hours you should:
- Be taken home by your escort in a car or taxi – public transport is not suitable.
- Arrange for a responsible adult to stay with you and look after you (this may be longer if you have health problems).
- Relax for the rest of the day; do not do any strenuous exercise.
- Arrange for somebody else to care for any children, elderly or sick relatives you usually have responsibility for.
- Follow any other post-operative instructions given to you by the dentist (eg extraction advice).
- Take your regular prescribed medication as usual.
For the next 24 hours you should NOT:
- Drive or ride a bike, your insurance would be invalid.
- Climb ladders.
- Operate machinery – including domestic appliances such as irons, kettles etc.
- Travel alone.
- Make important decisions or sign business or legal documents.
- Return to work.
- Drink alcohol or use recreational drugs
